4 Fun Ways to Exercise Your Dog

Dogs are mans best friend, but as the “Alpha” of the pack, it’s up to us to make sure they are living fun and healthy lives.

Dogs can turn any frown upside-down. They love us unconditionally, and we love them as much as any member of our own family. Taking them on a daily walk is important to their health, but sometimes taking the same route you’ve taken for months can get a bit boring–for you and your furry friend. Shake things up a bit! Here are four fun ways to exercise your dog.

  1. Run with them

Running with your dog is a multitasking activity. You and your four-legged buddy get to enjoy the great outdoors while increasing stamina and strengthening your muscles. Just remember that this is for your dog, and you should stop when they want to stop, sniff, greet other dogs, and take care of their doggy business.

  1. Take it to an agility class

If your dog has a lot of energy (or pounds) to burn off, find an agility class or group for them. This high-energy sport is not only great exercise, but strengthens your bond and develops new skills.

  1. Classic game of fetch

Fetch can be all that your dog needs to get its daily exercise fix. It’s easy to squeeze into schedules and can be done right in your own backyard.

  1. Tracking

If your dog is not as young as it used to be and can’t perform an intense activity, then a simple tracking game may be all they need. A scent trail is laid out hours before competition, and, with the encouragement of their owners, begin the work of finding the object at the end of the trail.
